Passion For Fashion, is what my blog says about me.

For me fashion is not about the brand, it's about the person who designs it. Have we ever really thought about When , Why , What, that made the designer who they are today. The Answer is no not really, because its more about the brand name on it, and what's hot in fashion now . I believe behind every designer, there is an amazing story on their road success in the fashion industry.

ABOUT THE AUCTION
FASHION FOR HAITI: ONE MILLION HEARTS

Thank you for visiting Fashion for Haiti: One Million Hearts at Urban Zen. This exhibition is a collaboration between Urban Zen, the Council of Fashion Designers of America and eBay. Nearly 150 designers have put their personal touch on locally-crafted Haitian papier mâché hearts that were generously donated by DKNY.

From April 22 – May 2, each personalized designer heart will be auctioned off exclusively on eBay, the world’s largest marketplace and cause commerce leader. The net proceeds of Fashion for Haiti: One Million Hearts will be used to support the Urban Zen Foundation’s efforts with Haitian artisans - promoting economic development through job creation and vocational education, helping raise awareness and highlighting the creativity of the artisans of Haiti.
We are proud and excited to join the Million Hearts for Haiti campaign, and are thrilled to tell you about the unique Urban Zen spin we’re putting on this.http://www.urbanzen.org/news/fashion-haiti-million-hearts/ which is dedicated to creating jobs and enhancing education of Haiti’s artisans. “Change can only occur when people come together,” Karan told InStyle.com exclusively. “I am excited to see so many of my friends and CFDA designers use these hearts as a blank canvas for their unique creative expression to raise money. HAND/EYE FUND

These hand-carved river stone hearts from the village of Cormier, located in a rural zone just east of Port au Prince, represent the best link between Haitian artisans and the distant markets they must reach to earn a living. HAND/EYE Fund, through its Austin, Texas importing partner, Tesoros Trading Co., offers employment to the carvers by buying the hearts from them.

The stone hearts are little labors of love created by the Haitian stone carvers of Cormier. They’re a testament to the resilient, tenacious, creative spirit of the Haitian people and it is this creativity that has inspired our project. As, Keith Recker of the HAND/EYE Fund said, “Out of nothing, Haitians create not just daily life, but a vast spiritual world of stunning intricacy.” So, join us. We’re excited to be stunned by the brilliance of your hearts.

Proceeds from sales of the hearts go to the HAND/EYE Fund’s artisan grants program in Haiti – which offers small cash grants to artists and artisans who need to rebuild houses and workshops, replenish tools and raw materials, and gain access to design input from the markets in which they are trying to sell. The HAND/EYE Fund’s artisan grants program supports Haiti artisans in their struggle to rebuild their lives and businesses in the aftermath of the January 2010 earthquake.
